Jaydev Unadkat ended 2022 in a memorable way by playing a Test for Team India after 12 years. Whereas 2023 was welcomed in a grand manner with a hat-trick in the very first over in Ranji.

Unadkat best performance

Unadkat (39/8) produced a career-best performance against Delhi on Tuesday in Rajkot. He became the first bowler in Ranji's history to take a hat trick in the very first over. The Saurashtra captain achieved the feat by dismissing Dhruv Shorey in the third ball of his first over, Vaibhav Raval in the fourth, and Delhi captain Yash Dul in the fifth ball.

Half of the team returned for five runs Half of the seven-time champion Delhi team played. The pavilion had returned for five runs in 18 balls. At one stage the score was 10 for 7. Then Hrithik Shokeen (68 not out) added 43 for the eighth wicket with Priyanshu Vijayaran (15) and 80 for the ninth wicket with Shivank Vashisht (38) to bring the score to 133.

Unadkat created history

In Ranji Trophy, this player was the first to hit the over metric. He is the first player who has done this feat. Unadkat produced his career-best figures of 8/39 against Delhi. Let us tell you that before Jaydev Unadkat, Irfan Pathan has done the feat of taking a hat-trick in the very first over in international cricket. He did this feat in the Karachi Test against Pakistan. The interesting thing is that both are left-arm fast bowlers and both depend on the swing. Pathan has retired but it is expected that Unadkat will continue to perform like this.

Nehal Wadhera's century in the very first match

Valsad (Gujarat). Nehal Wadhera (120 not out) scored a century in the first-class match as the 21-year-old all-rounder helped Punjab recover from early jitters against Gujarat to post 276 for seven. Nehal handled the team by adding 86 runs for the fifth wicket with Anmol Malhotra (41).
