Bajrang Punia is an Indian freestyle wrestler belonging to Haryana State, who competes in the 65-kg weight category. He recently won a bronze medal in World Wrestling Championships 2022 held at Belgrade. Today we will find out the different medals won by him.

Four-time medalist at World Wrestling Championships

The 27-year-old Bajrang is one of India’s most successful wrestlers in history, with Four World Championship medals. He is the only Indian who wins 4 titles in the World wrestling championship.

  1. He Wins a bronze medal at the 2022 Belgrade, Serbia World Wrestling Championships beating Sebastian C. Rivera of Puerto Rico.
  2. He Wins a bronze medal at the 2019 Kazakhstan World Wrestling Championships beating Mongolia's Tulga Tumur Ochir.
  3. He Won the silver medal at the 2018 Budapest World Championships and scored 2 positions against Japanese freestyle wrestler Takuto Otoguro
  4. In 2013 Budapest, Bajrang won the bronze medal in the men's freestyle 60 kg category and defeat Mongolia's Enkhsaikhany.

Bajrang Punia has been a persistent performer on the continental stage, winning seven medals in Asian Wrestling Championships and 2 medals in Asain Games. He is a highly embellished athlete, and his achievements in the past couple of years show his consistency in the biggest sports events.

  5. Gold medal at the 2018 Jakarta(Indonesia) Asian Games in the 65 kg category against Japanese wrestler Daichi Takatani.
  6. Gold medal at the 2017 Delhi Asian Wrestling Championships in the 65 kg category against Korean wrestler Seunghyun Lee
  7. Silver medal at 2014, Astana(Kazakhstan) Asian Wrestling Championships in the 61 kg category against Iranian wrestler Masoud Esmaeilpour

  1. Bajrang Punia defended his Commonwealth Games title, beating Canada’s Lachlan McNeil to win a Gold medal in the men’s 65kg category at the CWG 2022 in Birmingham.
  2. He also won a Gold medal in the same category at the 2018 Gold Coast CWG

Tokyo Olympics Bronze Medalist

The 27-year-old wrestler participated in Men's 65kg freestyle event and fulfilled his Olympic dream by winning the bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020 by beating Daulet Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan in the repechage round
